Elongate the Life of Your Tan

We all know that the desert heat is brutal on our skin. Women have to carry around bottles of lotion in our purses out of necessity, while men have to add a little more moisturizer to their faces in the morning and worry about ashy elbows. It's not pretty, it's not nice, and it's not condusive to a great-looking tan- airbrushed or otherwise.

My tip for keeping your skin healthy and glowing all year long is so simple it's almost silly: Moisturize.

I'm not talking a few squirts of lotion in the morning after your shower. I'm talking intense moisture replenishment all day long. When you take a shower in the morning, put a heaping helping of lotion all over your body using circular motions (I love Bath and Body Works original formula, but Shea Butter is amazing as well). In the afternoon take a quick trip to the bathroom and add more lotion to the most dry, sensitive areas of your body like your hands, feet, elbows, and knees. Finally, at night before you go to bed add another generous portion of lotion all over your body using those same circular motions from the AM.

If you find that your skin still feels dry after all this moisture, try this trick I use during the winter months: apply good ol' baby oil to the areas that seem dry, then once you've rubbed it in add regular lotion on top! The baby oil works as a barrier between your skin and the elements, and keep all the natural moisture your skin makes on its own inside your skin cells.

If you follow these simple tips your skin will be happy, healthy, and glowing all year long!
